On October 20-26, 2025, the NATO Baltic Air Policing Detachment in the Baltic states were scramble to patrol the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian airspace borders with Russia and Belarus and three times alerted to intercept aircraft of the Russian Federation violating international flight rules.

On October 20 NATO air policing fighter aircraft were dispatched to identify an unidentified aerial object, it was not detected.

On October 22 the NATO Air Policing fighter jets were scrambled to intercept two TU-22M flying through international airspace from mainland Russia and back. NATO fighter aircraft also intercepted two TU-22N, two SU-35 and one SU-30, flying from Kaliningrad and back via international airspace. Their onboard transponders were switched off, the crews had no flight plans and were not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.

On October 23 one IL-78 and SU-30SN2 of the Russian Federation trespassed into the airspace of the Republic of Lithuania near Kybartai, possibly by mistake while training mid-air refueling in Kaliningrad. NATO fighter aircraft responded to the incident and remained patrolling the airspace on site.

On October 24 NATO fighter jets were scrambled to identify an aerial target but it was not found.
