Ways to enhance technical-military cooperation between Romania and Ukraine, discussed at MoND

On Monday, October 27th, Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, had a meeting, at the MoND headquarters, with the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, an activity also attended by the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurcă.
The Ukrainian official's visit to Romania was part of the political-military dialogue between the two states. Its main goal was to discuss ways of enhancing technical-military cooperation, as well as to consolidate of the bilateral defence partnership.
During the meeting, the delegations reviewed the key points of the multidimensional support provided to Ukraine by Romania and discussed enhancing collaboration in the field of defence industry, joint military research and innovation projects, as well as training and interoperability programs between the two countries' armed forces.
Both sides stressed the importance of expertise and technology transfer, with an emphasis on increasing military equipment production capacity. The essential role of regional cooperation in the current security context on NATO's eastern flank and the European Union was also highlighted.
During the talks, the officials agreed to increase dialogue at the technical and institutional level, as well as to periodically organize bilateral meetings dedicated to the defense industry, aimed at stimulating joint research and development projects and partnerships between companies in the field from Romania and Ukraine.
"Romania remains committed to supporting the consolidation of Ukraine's defence capabilities, through joint industrial development projects. In this regard, we are exploring together the opportunities offered by European funding programs, including the SAFE initiative, which can significantly contribute to increasing regional production capacity and modernizing defence industry," Minister Moșteanu stated.
The visit of the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defence confirmed the two states' joint commitment to enhance defence cooperation and to contribute to regional security and stability through modern, sustainable means compatible with Euro-Atlantic standards.
