The Chief of Defence Staff meets with the Director General of the European Union Military Staff

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, had an official meeting with Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan, Director General of the European Union Military Staff and Director of the European Union's Military Planning and Conduct Capability, who paid a visit to Romania, at the invitation of the Romanian party.
The talks focused on the main aspects of Romania's contribution to the European Union's military operations, missions and initiatives in the field of defence, with emphasis on the support provided to Ukraine through the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM UA) and through participation in capability coalitions.
During the meeting, the officials assessed the results of the collaboration between the Romanian Armed Forces and the European Union military structures, as well as the steps to be taken in order to increase interoperability and joint training, including through the European F-16 Training Center in Romania.
General Vlad emphasized the constant commitment of the Romanian Armed Forces to consolidate joint efforts to strengthen the European Union's security posture on the Eastern Flank.
The European official's visit is part of the series of consultations at military level between Romania and the European Union, intended to contribute to increasing the cohesion and efficiency of joint actions, in the context of current security challenges.
