On 27 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Lithuania and issued a strong protest over the ongoing violations of Lithuanian airspace by the Republic of Belarus. It was emphasized that the deliberate inaction of the authorities in the Republic of Belarus is considered by Lithuania to be a hybrid attack. The Republic of Belarus was urged to take its responsibilities as a state seriously and to take immediate measures to prevent such hybrid attacks.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania also informed the representative of Belarus that Lithuania is closing the state border with the Republic of Belarus until further notice.
The representative of the Embassy of Belarus was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following a violation of the Lithuanian airspace on the evening of 26 October 2025, when a swarm of meteorological balloons launched from the Republic of Belarus once again posed a threat to civil aviation and public security.
