At least one person has been killed in an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon, according to the country's Ministry of Health, marking the latest violation of the ceasefire agreement between the Tel Aviv regime and the Arab nation signed last November.

Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA), citing the Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Health Ministry, reported that the Israeli drone attack late on Saturday targeted a motorcycle in al-Qlailah town of the Tyre district.

Hours later, an Israeli drone fired a missile at an excavator in the Blida town of the Marjayoun district, with no immediate reports of casualties available.

Earlier, NNA reported that a person was killed and another injured when an Israeli drone strike targeted a car near an elementary school on the Harouf-Jibchit road in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon.

A Lebanese army intelligence source identified the victim as Zein Futouni.

The Israeli military asserted in a statement that Futouni was an anti-tank commander from the elite Radwan Force of the Hezbollah resistance movement.

He was recently involved in efforts to re-establish Hezbollah's military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, the statement added.

After nearly 14 months of war marked by heavy losses and failure to achieve its objectives in the aggression against Lebanon, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, 2024.

Since then, Israeli forces have been carrying out attacks on Lebanon, which involve airstrikes, breaching the ceasefire.

On January 27, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

This comes as Israel also maintains its occupation of five important locations in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all of which are located near the border.
