
Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, held a bilateral meeting on Wednesday in New York with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Mrs. Yvette Cooper.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the two parties welcomed the partnership between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreements signed, as well as all provisions contained in the joint communiqué issued following the 5th session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue, held in Rabat on June 1, 2025.
In this joint communiqué, signed by Mr. Bourita and his British counterpart, the United Kingdom considers the Moroccan autonomy initiative as "the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis for a lasting resolution" of the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
The United Kingdom also confirmed in the document that "UK Export Finance may consider supporting projects in the Sahara," notably as part of "the UK Export Finance's commitment to mobilize £5bln to support new economic projects across the country."
