President Gitanas Nausėda met in New York with Michael E. Williamson, a member of Lockheed Martin's executive leadership team and President of Lockheed Martin International. Lockheed Martin is one of the largest high-tech and defense companies in the United States.
During the meeting, the President invited the U.S. defense industry giant to invest in Lithuania. "In recent years, Lithuania has significantly reduced the administrative burden for defense industry manufacturers seeking to establish themselves and develop products in our country. We have created an effective model for partnerships with the world's leading manufacturers, with success stories involving Rheinmetall and Northrop Grumman as vivid examples. We are fully prepared to welcome you to Lithuania - we have the talent, free economic zones, dedicated state institutions to coordinate investments, a favorable macroeconomic climate, and a growing defense ecosystem," said the President.
The president also stressed that Lithuania, which has allocated more than 5% of its GDP to defense, is becoming one of NATO's leaders. A shared approach to security, he added, is both a sign of strong transatlantic cooperation and a driver of growth for the defense industry.
Lockheed Martin is a global security and defense company whose main activities include research, design, development, manufacturing, integration and maintenance of advanced technology systems, products, and services. The company's annual revenue exceeds $70 billion, and it employs more than 100,000 people.
