On September 23, during the visit to New York, the Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, participated in the Lithuanian-U.S. defence industry business forum in New York.

"U.S. capital and research potential, Lithuania's readiness to quickly provide production opportunities, and Ukraine's ability to respond rapidly to needs on the battlefield form a triangle of opportunity that opens up vast business prospects," said Budrys.

The Minister emphasized that the defence industry must keep pace with the times and actively adapt innovations. According to Budrys, recent incidents with drones have shown that the capabilities available on NATO's front lines are insufficient and do not meet security challenges. Therefore, it is necessary to cooperate with Ukraine and learn from its experience.

The participants of the forum highlighted the importance of the transatlantic bond, which is particularly strengthened by the expanding cooperation in the field of the defence industry. Representatives of US defence companies emphasized the openness of Lithuanian partners to innovation, speed, and flexibility of decision-making.

The forum was also attended by the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda. In addition, three Lithuanian-U.S. cooperation documents were signed during the forum: an agreement between the Innovation Agency and the Pennsylvania National Guard on cooperation in the field of innovation; a cooperation agreement between the Pennsylvania Drone Association and the Lithuanian Defence and Security Industry Association; and an agreement between Lithuanian company KOVO Armor and U.S. company Safariland Group.

The forum was organized by the Consulate General of Lithuania in New York together with the Baltic American Chamber of Commerce and the American-Lithuanian Business Council.
