Statement from Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna regarding NATO's Eastern flank reinforcement mission, Eastern Sentry.
NATO has once again demonstrated its ability to respond to threats swiftly, decisively, and with flexibility. Following the most significant violation of NATO airspace by Russia to date on Wednesday, allied consultations under Article 4 were held yesterday. Today, the Eastern Sentry mission has been launched to reinforce NATO's Eastern flank.
Together with our NATO allies, we have made it clear that any breach of our borders, by land, sea, or air, is unacceptable and will be met with appropriate measures. This is consistent with our response to recent critical infrastructure incidents in the Baltic Sea. Eastern Sentry enhances the airspace defense of NATO's Eastern flank, and the allies' rapid readiness to contribute reflects a shared understanding of the threats we face.
