Iran's top military commander asserted that the recent Israeli aggression against Qatar would not have occurred without "the coordination and green light" of the United States, vowing that Iran and its armed forces would stand by Doha "until the end."
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, made the remarks in a phone call with Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar.
Denouncing the recent terrorist attack on Qatar as a "criminal act," General Mousavi confirmed that Iranian officials and political authorities "strongly" condemn the incident.
On Tuesday, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the headquarters of the Hamas resistance movement in the Qatari capital, Doha, in what Israeli media described as an "assassination operation."
The airstrikes came as Hamas leaders had reportedly convened to discuss the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.
General Mousavi added that Iran's Armed Forces "will never hesitate to support" Qatar, because "relations between the two countries and the two nations have always been based on brotherhood."
He underscored that Iran will not leave the Qatari nation alone in the face of enemies, especially the criminal Zionist regime, which has been and is "the main cause of tension and instability in the region."
According to the Iranian top general, the main factor that emboldens and encourages Israel's aggression is "the unwavering support of the West, especially the United States, for the occupation, suppression, and killing of the innocent Palestinian people."
He noted that the aggression against Qatar could not have occurred without American coordination and approval, adding that the entire world understands that "without direct and indirect Western support", Israel would be "unable to sustain its shameful existence."
The Qatari official, for his part, likened the Israeli attack to a dagger that was cowardly thrust into his country, adding that it occurred even as "meetings and conferences were being held to establish peace with coordination and appeals from all sides."
He noted that the recent aggression on Doha was in line with the Israeli regime's opposition to "the measures that Qatar was considering to find solutions for a peaceful solution to the Gaza issue."
While reiterating his appreciation for Iran's support, both historically and in the recent incident, he hoped that two the sides could soon hold meetings to examine these issues and jointly develop practical solutions.
The Qatari official concluded by expressing hope that the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on Sunday and Monday would yield practical and effective results, whose impact would be witnessed by all, especially the Israeli regime.
