Tehran, IRNA -- President Masoud Pezeshkian has voiced Iran's firm support for Venezuela's sovereignty and people, stressing that unity and national solidarity are the keys to defeating US and Israeli plots.
In a phone conversation on Monday night with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Pezeshkian said the failure of US and the Israeli regime's objectives against Iran stemmed from national unity and internal solidarity, which have given the country an inexhaustible power.
"As long as this unity is preserved, no foreign power can harm our countries," he said.
Referring to Washington's hostile actions against the Islamic Republic, he added that the US has for decades used "false propaganda and fabricated narratives" as pretexts to exert pressure and violate international law.
Pezeshkian underlined that Iran strongly condemns any violation of states' territorial integrity and "with all its capacity supports Venezuela's sovereignty and nation."
The Iranian president also recalled the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, where US unilateralism and its use of force against nations "under false pretenses" were widely condemned.
He welcomed Venezuela's initiatives to safeguard regional peace and stability and reiterated Iran's readiness to expand cooperation with the Latin American country.
Maduro, for his part, praised Iran's backing and highlighted Venezuela's national unity.
He said that today, Venezuela has reached a power that shields the nation against any threat.
He condemned US media campaigns and psychological warfare aimed at tarnishing Venezuela's image, noting that millions had rallied in defense of their homeland.
"Today, Iran and Venezuela are more united than ever. Your support gives us greater motivation to preserve independence, dignity, and national pride," Maduro added.
