
Estonian secretaries general and secretary of state meet with Moldovan prime minister

Today, 9 September, in Chișinău, Estonian secretaries general and the secretary of state met with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean to reaffirm Estonia's support for Moldova's European integration and to receive an update on the current situation ahead of the upcoming elections.
The Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jonatan Vseviov, assured Prime Minister Dorin Recean that Estonia supports Moldova's accession to the European Union and underlined the need to start accession negotiations with both Moldova and Ukraine as soon as possible, stressing that EU enlargement enhances security both in the region and across Europe as a whole.
During the meeting, Secretary General Vseviov also offered Moldova Estonia's additional support on its path to European integration, through both experts and Estonia's own experience. He emphasised that one of the aims of the visit was to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange the necessary expertise.
The discussions also covered Russia's increased influence activities in the run-up to the parliamentary elections.
Alongside the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Estonian delegation to Moldova includes Secretary of State Keit Kasemets, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture Kristiina Alliksaar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications Ahti Kuningas, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance Merike Saks, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior Tarmo Miilits, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Climate Marten Kokk. The visit of the chancellors and the Secretary of State to Moldova takes place from 8 to 10 September.
