Today, 8 September, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to present a protest and deliver an official note regarding the violation of Estonian airspace on 7 September.
The incident occurred in the region of Vaindloo Island, where a Russian Federation MI-8 helicopter entered Estonian airspace without permission and remained there for approximately four minutes. According to Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, this was yet another serious and regrettable incident, particularly in light of the fact that it has been the third such violation this year.
