Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has reaffirmed his nation's stance against the forced removal of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, asserting that the Israeli regime's portrayal of the displacement of the besieged enclave's inhabitants as voluntary is "nonsense."

Abdelatty made the remarks in a joint press conference with Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), on Saturday, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's endorsement of the notion that Palestinians in Gaza should be permitted to leave voluntarily, while suggesting that other nations should accept them.

"If there is a manmade famine (in Gaza), it is to push residents out of their land. It is nonsense to say that this is voluntary displacement," he said.

Abdelatty, whose country plays a crucial role as a mediator in efforts to resolve the Gaza war, also criticized Israel for its "intransigence" regarding the protracted delay in achieving a ceasefire deal with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

The latest development comes as the Israeli regime continues its efforts to seize Gaza City and forcibly displace nearly a million Palestinians to concentration zones in the south, as its forces advance deeper into the largest urban area of the blockaded territory.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli military announced the establishment of yet another so-called "humanitarian zone" in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, urging residents of Gaza City to evacuate to the south.

The military claimed the area will be equipped with infrastructure, including field hospitals, water pipelines, desalination plants, and food supplies.

The tented encampment of al-Mawasi, located in southern Gaza and facing severe overcrowding, was designated as a so-called "humanitarian" or "safe" zone at the onset of the war. However, it has been subjected to multiple bombings, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians seeking refuge there.

Back in August, Israel's so-called "political-security cabinet" approved a plan to occupy Gaza City after Netanyahu announced the regime's intention to return the entire strip to Israeli occupation.

The decision has sparked widespread international condemnations, with world leaders warning of a potential humanitarian catastrophe and further destabilization in the region.

The regime's bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 64,300 Palestinians and injured 162,300 others, according to the health ministry.
