
The President congratulated NATO Force Integration Unit on its 10th anniversary in Lithuania

On Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) in Lithuania on its 10th anniversary.
According to the President, in today's security context this milestone is a testament not only to the strength of our Alliance but also to our close cooperation.
"In 2015, Europe was already facing new security challenges. At that time, NATO leaders recognized the need to prepare for an uncertain future. From the very beginning, the Force Integration Unit in Lithuania linked our national defense with NATO's collective defense, ensuring effective and reliable deterrence," the President said.
Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that throughout these years, the men and women of the NATO Force Integration Unit have worked shoulder to shoulder with the Lithuanian Armed Forces and Allies, and their dedication and efforts towards the Alliance's commons goals continue to contribute to the security of Lithuania and NATO as a whole.
The President thanked the Unit's commander, Colonel Heiliger, as well as all past and present commanders and personnel, for their strong commitment to Lithuania and NATO.
"With the support of NFIU, Lithuania can make the most of its NATO membership. We gain crucial time and resources to develop our capabilities, plan our defense and train alongside our Allies. Today, we are building our security together with close allies and friends. As a family of like-minded nations, we are ready to face any challenges that come our way. And that is truly worth celebrating," - the President said.
The NATO Force Integration Unit was established in 2015 as part of NATO's enhanced forward presence on the eastern flank. Today, it plays an important role in NATO's deterrence architecture and stands as a symbol of Allied unity in the face of Russian aggression.
