Gaza's Health Ministry says six more Palestinians have died from "famine and malnutrition" as Israel's siege tightens, with hunger-related deaths reaching a record high last month.
On Wednesday, the ministry reported that six people, including a child, died from "famine and malnutrition" in the past 24 hours.
The latest deaths bring the toll of Palestinians who have died from hunger-related causes since the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023 to 367, including 131 children.
This comes a day after the ministry warned of a sharp rise in famine-related deaths in Gaza, as at least 185 Palestinians died from malnutrition in August, the highest toll in months.
The Integrated Food Phase Classification (IPC) - the UN-backed global hunger monitor - officially declared a famine in Gaza in a report published on August 22.
Since then, 89 deaths have been recorded, including 16 children, as the declaration didn't result in any remarkable increase in humanitarian aid to the besieged strip.
The ministry also noted that more than 43,000 children under five are now suffering from malnutrition, while over 55,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women have also been affected.
"The catastrophic impact of famine in the Gaza Strip is accelerating," the ministry said, warning of "the severity of the current indicators and the limited emergency response amid shortages in food and medical supplies."
Since March 2, when it violated its ceasefire agreement with Hamas, the Israeli regime has sealed all border crossings, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid and further deepening Gaza's already dire humanitarian crisis.
Amid global anger, Israel falsely claimed that it partially reopened the crossings in recent weeks for some goods and international aid.
However, the amount allowed to enter Gaza is only between 10 and 20 percent of the population's needs, according to Gaza's Government Media Office.
Israel continues to ban more than 430 types of essential supplies needed by children and the sick, including vital food items such as eggs, meat, fish, cheese, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and nutritional supplements.
Moreover, most trucks that try to enter the besieged strip are looted by Israeli-backed gangs.
The worsening famine coincides with intensified Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, as Israel is pushing ahead with a plan to occupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City, the largest city in the territory.
On Tuesday alone, Israeli attacks on Gaza City, killed more than 113 Palestinians.
The death toll from Israel's genocidal war on Gaza that started on October 7, 2023 has reached to 63,746, with 161,245 others injured, the health ministry said.
