Letter of intent on Polish-Swedish cooperation signed
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Republic of Poland
02.09.2025
We have signed another agreement regarding cooperation with Sweden. We are developing our defence industries, purchasing equipment from one another. We had a joint session of working groups from Polish and Swedish defence industries. These are the tangible effects of cooperation: presence of troops, trade, joint procurement, joint exercises. I am grateful for the signing of this agreement, which elevates the relations between our countries and between the Armed Forces of Poland and Sweden to the highest level. This means new capabilities, new skills - the best cooperation. We are friends, we are allies, we are responsible for one another - said the deputy prime minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Kielce.
A bilateral meeting between the deputy prime minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the minister of defence of Sweden Pål Jonson took place on 2 September 2025 during the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO.
Swedish accession to NATO is a breakthrough, it's a fundamental change in the Baltic Sea region - our capabilities and our security. We have been supporting you from the first days of you having decided to join the North Atlantic Alliance, and we support each other.
I would like to thank the minister and the Kingdom of Sweden for sending your soldiers, your Gripen planes together with their crews and ground teams. Thank you for protecting the Polish skies, supporting operations connected to sending equipment to Ukraine.
- said the Polish minister of national defence during the press conference
The deputy prime minister noted that Swedish troops will soon cooperate with the Polish Armed Forces during the "Iron Defender" exercises.
This signed agreement is a clear signal how dynamically the relations between Sweden and Poland are developing. As I said during the meeting - one would be hard-pressed to find another country, cooperation with which would be enhanced so fundamentally, as it is between Poland and Sweden. It is possible thanks to our shared sense of responsibility and investment in maintaining our security.
- said the Swedish minister of defence after the meeting.
