The Iranian foreign minister has called on Muslim countries to boycott Israel and hold the criminal regime responsible for its genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on Monday in an address to an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Saudi city of Jeddah on the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza.

He said that Muslim states should stop making "hollow and inactive condemnations" about the Gaza onslaught and instead impose sanctions on Israel and bring the usurping entity to account for its war crimes in the blockaded territory.

Islamic countries must commit themselves to "mobilizing all political, economic, and legal tools, including sanctions, boycotts, and coordinated international pressure" against Israel, he added.

They, he noted, must also pursue Israel's "accountability at all levels, in every court," for genocide and immediately sever all relations with the occupying regime.

Araghchi further urged Muslim nations to confront the governments that are complicit in the Gaza bloodshed by arming Israel and shielding it from international condemnations.

"What is unfolding before our eyes is the organized destruction of besieged people by a ruthless apartheid regime that acts with complete impunity," he said.

"This is not a conventional war. It is collective punishment, a policy of domination, and an assault that bears all the hallmarks of genocide."

Meanwhile, the top Iranian diplomat emphasized that Palestinians are subject to a systematic massacre in Gaza, where Israel has completely destroyed residential areas, turned hospitals into graveyards, and trapped children in extreme famine and starvation, in blatant violation of every humanitarian standard.

He blasted Israel for openly speaking of its plans to establish permanent military control over Gaza and impose conditions meant to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian territory and annihilate its people.

"The people of Gaza await our meaningful support, and their perseverance calls upon us to stand with them not only in words but in decisive action," he said.

"Let us remember that the tragedy of Gaza does not concern only Muslims. It is a test for the global conscience. Therefore, we call on all nations, regardless of religion or geography, to stand on the side of humanity, justice, and dignity, which is the right side of history," he said.

"History will not forgive delay. Gaza cannot wait. The time for action is now."

Israel unleashed its brutal Gaza offensive on October 7, 2023, after the Hamas resistance group carried out its historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for the regime's intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Israel has so far failed to achieve its declared objectives of eliminating Hamas and freeing all captives in Gaza.

The regime has killed over 62,740 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured at least 158,250 others since October 2023, according to the health ministry of Gaza.

A mass starvation is also gripping the Gaza Strip due to Israel's blockade of the territory that prevents the entry of essential supplies.
