Tehran, IRNA -- Dozens more Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing Israeli bombing and starvation campaign in Gaza over the past 24 hours as Israel's blockade continues to prevent life-saving aid to the blockaded Strip.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry on Saturday, hospitals recorded eight new deaths due to starvation and malnutrition, including two children, bringing the total to 281 deaths from hunger, of whom 114 are children.
The ministry also announced the killing of over 60 people and injury of some 308 in Israeli attacks across Gaza since Friday, with some victims remaining trapped under rubble and on the streets.
At least 16 people were killed and 111 more injured while attempting to collect aid, bringing to 2,076 the total number of fatalities that the ministry describes as "aid victims."
Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza back in October 2023, the cumulative death toll in the besieged Palestinian territory has risen to 62,622, with 157,673 injured.
Israel has kept blocking aid to Gaza despite a declaration by a UN-backed global hunger monitor, Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), that parts of Gaza are officially suffering from a famine created by Israel.
On Friday, the IPC said that more than half a million Palestinians in Gaza City are already exposed to famine. At the same time, conditions across the rest of the Strip are no different as Israel's blockade continues to prevent life-saving aid.
The catastrophe has already claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians, including infants. With families grappling as food supplies have already vanished, the struggle for survival on mere morsels grows harder by the day.
