MANILA -- Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has reaffirmed the military's commitment to address emerging security threats with a "unified and integrated approach."
An AFP statement on Thursday said Brawner made this remark during the first founding anniversary of the Armed Forces Intelligence Command (AIC) on Wednesday.
During the event, Brawner underscored the vital role of intelligence in safeguarding national security and advancing the military organization's capabilities.
"By continuously advancing its capabilities in conducting multi-domain intelligence and security operations across the strategic, operational, and tactical spectrum, the AIC fulfills its role of integrating all intelligence capabilities for our organization, which is crucial in protecting our Flag and the people," he said.
AIC was established on Aug. 21, 2024 to address evolving security challenges.
With the theme "AIC @ 1: Integrated and Interoperable Intelligence in a Changing Threat Landscape," Wednesday's celebration highlighted how the unit has provided strategic intelligence to support the AFP's mandate of conducting effective multi-domain security operations.
Also during the event, Brawner led the awarding of certificate of grant for 117 plantilla positions allocated to the AIC, which further strengthened the unit's manpower and organizational capacity. (PNA)
