
Deputy National Armaments Director receives foreign defence attachés

Bern, 21.08.2025 -- The Deputy National Armaments Director Thomas Rothacher will receive the defence attachés accredited in Switzerland from ten countries on 21 August 2025. The traditional professional exchange will take place in Bern and Spiez.
Once a year, the National Armaments Director, this year represented by the Deputy National Armaments Director Thomas Rothacher, receives the foreign defence attachés accredited in Switzerland for an information event. The aim of this traditional event is to transfer knowledge regarding the procurement organisation armasuisse and its services in support of the Swiss Armed Forces.
Officers from ten different states will take part in the event. In addition to the explanations by the Deputy National Armaments Director on the new Armament Policy Strategy of the Federal Council, the area armasuisse Real Estate will present itself and highlight its core competences, including those in the area of military protection structures. Thanks to steady development and international cooperation in this area, Switzerland is one of the leading European nations in the development of structures with protection against weapon fire.
In addition, the Spiez Laboratory, the Swiss Federal Institute for NBC-Protection is opening its doors for the foreign defence attachés as part of a laboratory tour and presenting its scope of application in guest presentations.
