Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned that daily Palestinian injuries in Gaza have tripled since late May, with the launch of an Israeli and US-backed aid initiative run by the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

MSF deputy medical coordinator in Gaza, Mohammad Abu Mughaiseeb, in a recent video message, warned of a new horror facing the healthcare sector as the Israel-backed food distribution points have turned into kill zones.

"These locations have tripled the daily influx of wounded people compared to what it was before the establishment of the distribution centers," he said.

Israel stopped aid deliveries to Gaza on March 2 after claiming that Hamas was "stealing aid" to justify its weaponization of aid against civilians.

After nearly three months of complete aid blockade, under international pressure for pushing the besieged territory to the verge of famine, the apartheid regime forced a new model of aid distribution led by the GHF, replacing United Nations-affiliated aid groups.

Gaza Health Ministry has reported that approximately 1,924 Palestinians have been killed and over 14,000 have sustained injuries while seeking aid at GHF sites since May 27, when the Israeli-operated initiative commenced.

Most of them have been purposefully shot by Israeli occupation forces or so-called US "security contractors" hired by GHF, according to testimonies from whistleblowers.

The shootings have become a daily occurrence, while starvation and malnutrition-related deaths continue to climb in coastal Palestinian territory.

Mughaiseeb further said that the already-fragile health system in Gaza is now barely functioning after over 22 months of genocidal Israeli war.

"What remains of the health sector is only a fragile skeleton, and now it faces a new horror," he said, cautioning that numerous injured individuals do not reach hospitals alive.

"We're seeing severed limbs, severe infections, shattered bones, and torn arteries requiring urgent surgeries and intensive care."

However, he said, the capacity to perform such procedures has been drastically compromised by the ongoing genocide.

Mughaiseeb confirmed that surgical and intensive care services are collapsing in the few remaining hospitals in Gaza.

He demanded an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access, stating that without these measures "there will be nothing left to save, neither hospitals, nor patients, nor the future."

At least 61,944 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 155,886 individuals have been injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the Gaza health ministry.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war on the besieged coastal territory.
