The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli government's recent approval for the construction of 3,400 new settlement units in the West Bank, including areas of occupied Al-Quds.
The OIC asserts that these actions are in direct violation of international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the advisory opinion provided by the International Court of Justice, emphasising the urgent need for cessation of the Israeli occupation and its associated colonial settlement activities.
The Organization warns of the ramifications of ongoing Israeli policies characterised by aggressive expansion, systematic settlement construction, destruction of infrastructure, forced displacement, and the enforcement of a siege. Such practices are viewed as systemic violations of the Palestinian People's rights and a substantial obstacle to the viability of a two-state solution. They also reinforce efforts toward annexation and the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Considering these developments, the OIC calls upon the international community to fulfil its obligations to intervene and halt these actions by Israel, the occupying power. The Organization advocates for accountability measures, including the imposition of sanctions, in alignment with international law and resolutions that uphold international legitimacy.
