Lithuania and the United States are crafting a long-term plan for developing military infrastructure and training territory at the Pabradė Training Area. The plan will outline training area development, planning, designing and constructing sites for the next 20 years. The strategic plan is to combine the Lithuanian, NATO and U.S. vision of the training area and requirements for future infrastructure solutions.

"We will unveil new housing, administrative, dinning and storage infrastructure for U.S. military personnel at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė as soon as this autumn. The training area will continue expanding on the basis of a long term plan we will put together for the decades to come. All the infrastructure is design to combine Lithuanian and U.S. military needs to provide the best conditions to our Allies so that they can feel at home in Lithuania," says Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė.

The long-term plan will ensure a systematic development of military infrastructure combining the needs of U.S., Lithuania and other NATO Allies' troops, as well as improve living and service conditions.

The United States consistently supports our military capability development and rotates heavy battalions deployed in Lithuania on a persistent presence basis since 2019. The U.S. battalion in Lithuania has been reinforced with an additional artillery unit since 2022. The U.S. military presence in Lithuania is a critical deterrence and security guarantee for the Baltic states.

Lithuania's investment in infrastructure dedicated for U.S. military personnel exceeds USD 200 million.
