As part of its public diplomacy efforts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa'ar is currently hosting in Israel a delegation of journalists led by Newsmax, one of the leading media networks in the United States. The delegation also includes journalists from other American media outlets.
Earlier today, FM Sa'ar met with the founder and CEO of Newsmax Chris Ruddy. In addition, FM Sa'ar was interviewed by Carl Higbie.
FM Sa'ar congratulated the members of the delegation on their arrival in Israel and briefed them on the regional situation with an emphasis on the dangers of a Palestinian state.
FM Sa'ar said in the briefing:
"Establishing a Palestinian state within the '67 borders, with its capital in East Jerusalem - a short distance from here - would put Israel's population centers in grave danger, and would push Israel to borders that cannot be defended.
When we are told: Establish a Palestinian state here, on these hills, close to us, at the shortest distance from all our population centers - Jerusalem, the coastal area, it is clear that such a move would be suicidal.
A two-state solution? A Palestinian state in the heart of Israel would indeed be a solution - a solution for those who seek to eliminate us. We will not let this happen.
If large countries like France and Canada want to establish a Palestinian state in their territory, they can, they have enough territory. But here in the Land of Israel, it will not happen."
