Tehran, IRNA -- Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani says that any decision made by the Lebanese government in consultation with the "resistance" would be respected by Tehran.
Speaking during a joint press conference with Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Beirut on Wednesday, Larijani praised Lebanon as a "courageous nation" capable of making its own decisions, emphasizing that Iran does not view its allies as "tools" and that the resistance movement possesses "deep awareness and broad thinking," requiring no external guidance.
He criticized foreign countries for attempting to impose policies on Lebanon, stating, "Nations outside Lebanon should not dictate to Lebanon." Larijani stressed that regional governments should remain independent and strong, adding, "Lebanon does not need orders from across the seas. Every country has the right to decide its own future."
In a pointed remark, Larijani accused Israel of seeking to achieve through other means what it failed to gain through war, warning Lebanon not to confuse friends with enemies. "The enemy is Israel, which attacked you. Your friend is the one who resisted Israel - know their worth," he said.
When asked whether Iran would provide military assistance if Israel attacks Lebanon again, Larijani responded, "If the Lebanese government requests military help from us, we will assist."
He denied any Iranian interference in Lebanon's affairs, adding "Those who interfere are the ones giving you action plans and timetables from thousands of miles away - we have given you no such plan."
Larijani also framed regional resistance movements as organic responses to foreign aggression, citing Hezbollah's formation after Israel's occupation of Beirut and Iraqi resistance following the US invasion.
