The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the passing of Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay in Colombia. He sends condolences to his family and to the people of Colombia.
The Secretary-General reiterates his call for the 7 June attack on the Senator to be fully investigated and for those responsible to be brought to justice. He urges Colombia's authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure peaceful national elections, including guarantees for the safety and security of all candidates.

El Secretario General lamenta profundamente el fallecimiento del senador Miguel Uribe Turbay en Colombia y expresa sus condolencias a su familia y al pueblo colombiano.
El Secretario General reitera su llamado a que el atentado perpetrado contra el senador el pasado 7 de junio sea plenamente investigado y que los responsables rindan cuentas ante la justicia. El Secretario General, insta a las autoridades colombianas a adoptar todas las medidas necesarias para garantizar unas elecciones nacionales pacíficas, incluyendo garantías para la seguridad de todos los candidatos.
