The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has described Israel's aid airdrops into the Gaza Strip as a PR stunt, stressing that the ongoing starvation war imposed by the occupying regime against the people of the besieged enclave represents "the most horrific chapter" of genocide.
Hamas made the remarks in a statement on Sunday, as the Israeli regime continues to use food and humanitarian aid as a weapon of war against civilians in Gaza amidst an all-out blockade.
The resistance group also highlighted that the current aid reaching Gaza is only a fraction of the substantial humanitarian requirements in the region, underscoring the immediate necessity to open the crossings.
Furthermore, it asserted that the airdrop operations are perceived as propaganda stunts that pose significant risks to the lives of civilians.
Hamas also pointed out that it views the United States and countries supporting Israel as complicit partners in the ongoing war of starvation and genocide against Palestinians in the blockaded territory.
Moreover, the resistance group urged Arab and Muslim nations to take prompt action to help bring an end to the Israeli regime's siege on Gaza.
Israel stopped all aid deliveries to Gaza on March 2, after baselessly claiming that Hamas is "diverting aid" to justify its weaponization of food against its 2.3 million civilians.
The occupying regime allowed aid airdrops in Gaza on July 26, following months of widespread hunger crisis and pushing the besieged territory to the verge of famine.
At the time, the human rights organization Euro-Med said the initiative failed to meet the minimum humanitarian needs and does not alleviate the catastrophe caused by Israel's deliberate starvation policy.
While Israel and its allies hail the airdrops, the reality on the ground shows that airdropped aid is scarce, randomly distributed, and poses significant risks.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime's genocidal war on Gaza has left at least 61,369 Palestinians killed, and more than 152,850 others injured.
