Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's "Minister of National Security", is pushing for the toppling of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Ben-Gvir said that he will demand Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu take "immediate measures" to overthrow the PA in the upcoming cabinet meeting, Israeli media and Al Jazeera reported on Sunday.
The far-right minister claimed that his demand is in response to what he called "fantasies" of PA President Mahmoud Abbas of a Palestinian state.
Mahmoud Abbas recently spoke of efforts to establish "an unarmed Palestinian state," including in the Gaza Strip, saying that preparations are underway for general elections.
Remarks by Ben-Gvir come as more countries around the world, including in Europe, are moving to recognize Palestinian statehood.
The Israeli minister has repeatedly sparked controversy in recent years over his openly racist stance toward Palestinians.
