Ministry of National Defence invests EUR 30 million in Host Nation Support infrastructure at Kazlų Rūda

The Ministry of National Defence has dedicated EUR 30 million for further developing Reception, Staging and Onward Movement (RSOM) infrastructure at Kazlų Rūda over the period until 2030. The investment encompasses staging area sites, logistical areas, utility infrastructure building and constructions/upgrading of military infrastructure at Brigadier General Kazys Veverskys Training Area. It will ensures Host Nation Support to Allied troops deployed in Lithuania.

"We are set to develop Host Nation Support infrastructure worth of over EUR 2.5 billion nationwide, including the infrastructure for the German Brigade in Lithuania. We are committed to make sure the deploying troops find full Host Nation Support and to build the required infrastructure at pace. This is a strategic investment in the defensive capability of Lithuania and NATO Allies," says Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė.

Today the Cabinet has agreed to a change of purpose of land lots owned by the Ministry of National Defence in Kazlų Rūda Municipality from forestry to national defence. The land will be used to accommodate the developed Host Nation Support infrastructure.

Host Nation Support is products, services and works made available to incoming Allied forces in case of a crisis, military conflict, exercise or transit via Lithuania's territory.

The Ministry of National Defence is collaborating with other institutions to ensure nation-wide engagement to make sure the required Host Nation Support infrastructure, services and capabilities are supplied.
