
Lithuania's Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Defence call on NATO to take additional measures to ensure the security of Lithuanian airspace

On Tuesday, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys, together with the Acting Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė, addressed a joint letter to the Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, urging the Alliance to take additional measures in Lithuania to ensure the security of Lithuanian airspace.
In the letter, the Ministers stress that in less than a month, Lithuanian, as well as, NATO airspace was violated twice by Russian drones that could have been used in Russia's attacks on Ukraine. According to the Ministers, an increasing number of incidents of a similar nature threaten the security of Lithuania and the Alliance as a whole.
Budrys and Šakalienė underline that a swift and decisive NATO's reaction would send a clear message to its adversaries. the Alliance is strong and ready to defend every centimeter of its territory.
