Israeli families have lashed out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for "abandoning" captives held in Gaza and failing to secure a ceasefire deal with Hamas.
"My son is dying! You are the one who abandoned him. You are the one who failed. You are the one who invented this phased, piecemeal, selective approach," Israeli media quoted on Saturday the father of one of the captives in Gaza, Rom Breslavsky.
"You never missed a chance to miss every opportunity — I tell you now: Enough! The phased approach to deals has failed. Make the decision already - end the war and bring everyone here," he said at an anti-regime rally in Tel Aviv in a message addressed to Netanyahu.
The brother of Israeli captive Evyatar David also decried the failure of Netanyahu's Gaza war policies at the same rally, where thousands gathered holding posters of those held in captivity and chanted for their immediate release.
"They are on the absolute brink of death," David's brother Ilay said. "In the current unimaginable condition, they may have only days left to live."
Pointing to the dire situation in Gaza, Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said two out of the 50 Israeli captives in the blockaded territory were recently "documented looking emaciated and starving."
"Yet, in its next session — not for the first time — the [cabinet] will be discussing threats to the life of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, especially in light of the indictment against 73-year-old Tamar Gershoni, who attempted to acquire an RPG launcher to assassinate Netanyahu."
The families of captives have repeatedly stated that Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza endangers their lives in captivity, calling for an end to the regime's aggression and a "comprehensive deal" that would secure their immediate release.
In January, a temporary ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas led to the release of several captives and Palestinian abductees held in illegally in Israeli jails.
However, the Israeli regime refused to extend the deal as initially planned, choosing instead to intensify its military assaults on Gaza by shattering the 2-month deal.
Dozens of the captives have already been killed in Israel's indiscriminate and relentless bombardment of the Palestinian territory, and now, the Israeli-imposed starvation is taking its toll on them, too.
'Facing mounting international pressure to allow more food into Gaza, the Israeli regime has been blamed by aid agencies for pushing the territory towards famine by weaponizing food in its war against the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
The Israeli-occupied territories have been the scene of widespread protests against Netanyahu and his war cabinet for scuttling a deal to bring back the captives and terminate the war in Gaza, which failed to achieve any of its intended goals, including the "elimination" of Hamas and the full occupation of the besieged territory by dislocating its rightful owners.
Beside refusing to bring pressure on the regime to end the genocide, Washington has been providing the Gaza war with billions of dollars in military support, also shielding Tel Aviv against punitive United Nations resolutions.
Israel has launched a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, after Hamas-led resistance groups waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the Zionist entity in response to the regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
The regime's bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed more than 60,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and injured some 149,000 others.
Thousands of victims are also feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
The Israeli aggression continues unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
