Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has condemned the Israeli regime over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
"Canada condemns the Israeli government's failure to prevent the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian disaster in Gaza," Carney stated late Thursday night.
Carney said the aid operation led by the Israeli regime needed to be handed over to an international organization capable of properly distributing Canadian-funded aid provided for the starving people in the besieged Palestinian territory.
"Israel's control of aid distribution must be replaced by comprehensive provision of humanitarian assistance led by international organizations. Many of these are holding significant Canadian-funded aid which has been blocked from delivery to starving civilians," Carney stated.
"This denial of humanitarian aid is a violation of international law," Carney added.
Currently, the failed international US-run food distribution in Gaza remains heavily restricted by Israeli security controls, with frequent delays, bottlenecks at border crossings and numerous instances of hundreds of Palestinians being killed at aid points.
UN agencies have condemned the US and Israel-backed food distribution system, calling it "an abomination" and "a death trap".
The United Nations reported that Israeli forces have shot dead more than 1,000 aid seekers at US-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution points in the past months.
The United Nations, traditionally in charge of aid operations in Palestine, called once more for global action to end the brutal Israeli blockade on Gaza.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), issued a warning this week calling for worldwide action to address Israel's ongoing blockade of aid to the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini said the international community's inaction in this regard equates to complicity in the starvation of the people of Gaza.
He said the Israeli regime forces have banned UNRWA from bringing humanitarian aid into Gaza since March.
Lazzarini characterized the situation as a man-made crisis, facilitated by the impunity afforded to the Israeli regime.
He insisted that to stop the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza, an urgent need for political intervention was required.
"Only political will and leadership can reverse full-fledged starvation," Lazzarini emphasized.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, hospitals recorded nine new deaths due to starvation and malnutrition over 24 hours, raising the total number of starvation deaths to 122.
The US-Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed more than 59,580 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
