Saudi Arabia, Arab and Islamic Countries Condemn Israeli Knesset's Declaration on West Bank Sovereignty

Saudi Press Agency

Thursday 29/01/1447

Riyadh, July 24, 2025, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Turkiye, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of a declaration calling for the imposition of "Israeli sovereignty" over the occupied West Bank. This action, they said, is a blatant violation of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973), and 2334 (2016), which affirm the invalidity of all measures and decisions aimed at legitimizing the occupation, including settlement activities in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967.
The parties assert that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, emphasizing that this unilateral move has no legal effect and cannot alter the legal status of the occupied territory, including East Jerusalem, which remains an integral part of it.
They further emphasized that such actions will escalate regional tensions, already heightened by Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and its humanitarian consequences.
They urge the international community, particularly the Security Council, to act decisively against illegal Israeli policies that undermine the prospects for a just and lasting peace and the two-state solution.
The parties reaffirm their commitment to the two-state solution based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, advocating for the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
