On July 23, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The two officials noted that the people of Russia and Afghanistan have developed a long-standing track record of friendship and neighbourly relations and went on to stress their mutual interest in stepping up bilateral trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as promoting regional security, including combatting terrorism and drug trafficking.
