Baqaei says human conscience remains silent regarding Gaza situation

Tehran, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has expressed regret over the ongoing situation in Gaza, saying that human conscience has remained silent in the face of the situation in the strip.

In the past two years, Israel has committed "an unprecedented genocide," employing starvation and thirst as tools to exterminate and erase Palestine, Baqaei said addressing his regular press conference on Monday.

In just 24 hours, nearly 150 innocent people were killed while receiving food from a so-called American N.G.O., he added.

The Israeli regime has used bread lines for killing people, he said adding that no word cannot describe the brutality and ugliness of this crime.

He criticized the international community's inaction with regard to the U.S. support for the Israeli aggression against Iran and urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (O.I.C.) to convene an extraordinary session to address the matter.

Facing intimidation and threats, human rights and international organizations have been powerless in this regard, failing to fulfilling their responsibilities , he stated.

Reports claiming Iran accepting enrichment levels under 1% are false.

Regarding reports regarding Iran had agreed to enrichment below 1%, he said that the purpose behind such statements should be asked of those who made them. But such an agreement does not exist.

Europe is accused of failing to comply with its J.C.P.O.A. commitments

Regarding the Foreign Ministry's stance on Europe's proposal to delay the activation of the "snapback" mechanism, Baqaei said, "Our position has been consistent, firm, and principled".

Yesterday, the Foreign Minister sent a letter to the E3, China, Russia, and the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, outlining Iran's legal positions.

After the U.S. withdrew the J.C.P.O.A. and after waiting a full year for Europe to compensate for the damage, Iran began taking phased retaliatory steps.

Baqaei said that Europe lacks any credible basis ethically, politically, or logically to use Resolution 2231 to restore sanctions, when their own actions undermined the J.C.P.O.A. implementation from the start.
