
National Armaments Director meets with the Armaments Directors from Germany and Austria for the annual trilateral discussions in Vienna

Bern, 18.07.2025 -- National Armaments Director Urs Loher travelled to Vienna from 17 to 18 July 2025 to take part in the D-A-CH meetings with the Armaments Directors from Germany and Austria. The main topics of the exchange were ongoing armament procurements and trilateral cooperation.
During the annual D-A-CH meeting, National Armaments Director Urs Loher exchanged views with his German and Austrian counterparts, Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki and Major General Harald Vodosek, in Vienna from 17 to 18 July 2025. The National Armaments Director was accompanied by representatives from the Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse.
The discussions focused on topics such as the general security policy situation at national and international level, the status of ongoing procurement projects and future possible cooperations. Switzerland informed Austria and Germany about the armament policy strategy passed by the Federal Council in June 2025, while it received an overview of the current national developments in Germany and Austria. In addition, the participants presented the status of the combat aircraft procurements and reported on their cooperation as part of the "European Sky Shield Initiative" (ESSI).
The D-A-CH meetings at Armament Director level take place on an annual basis. The last meetings took place on 11 July 2024 in Berlin, and the next are expected to be held in summer 2026 in Switzerland.
