On July 7-13 NATO Air Policing Detachment in the Baltic states was four times alerted to intercept aircraft of the Russian Federation violating international aviation regulations in international airspace over the Baltic Sea and once -to respond to a violation of the airspace of Lithuania.

On July 7 NATO air policing fighter aircraft were scrambled to identify and escort two SU-24Ms flying out of Kaliningrad and back through international airspace with their onboard transponders switched off, without the flight plans and not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.

On July 8 NATO fighter jets were alerted in response and in order to intercept a flying object which had no onboard transponder signal, no flight plan and no radio communication. No object identification was completed, the pilots reported cumulus clouds at 3000-9000 ft.

On July 10 the Lithuanian airspace was breached by a GERBERA UAV which was later found crashed in the vicinity of Šumskas township.

On July 10 NATO air policing fighter aircraft were scrambled to intercept two SU-24Ms. The aircraft were flying from and back to Kaliningrad through international airspace with their onboard transponders switched off, no pre-filed flight plans and without maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control.

On July 10 NATO fighter aircraft were also alerted to intercept a potential flying target in national airspace, that had no pre-filed flight plan, nor onboard transponder signal, and was not keeping radio commination. The identification mission was not successful.
