MANILA -- Filipino and Indonesian Special Forces units are currently holding training on "critical areas of territorial defense" aimed at enhancing the capability and interoperability of the two elite units.
In a statement on Wednesday, Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the training activity is part of the 17th iteration of Training Activity (TA) Dolphine between the PA's Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) and the Indonesian Army Special Forces.
The bilateral training activity is being held from July 16 to 27 at Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.
A camp orientation to the Indonesian delegation was held on July 15.
Dema-ala said TA Dolphine XVII-2025 focuses on four critical special operations capabilities: Urban Warfare, Special Reconnaissance and Direct Action, Riverine Operations for Inter-Island Infiltration, and Airborne Operations, including military free-fall techniques.
"TA Dolphine XVII-2025 shows that when special forces from two nations train as one, regional security becomes unbreakable," PA chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido said.
Galido added that the bilateral training activity between the Philippine and Indonesia Special Forces represents a significant step forward in bolstering regional defense capabilities and underscores SFR's vital role in advancing the PA's strategic objectives.
The exercise involves 25 PA and 25 Indonesian Army personnel for main training activities scheduled from July 16 to 27.
Meanwhile, six senior Indonesian Army officers will participate in the Senior Officers' Visit Program that will take place from July 22 to 25. (PNA)
