Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met today with Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to discuss ongoing efforts to restore security and advance political stability in Haiti.

Deputy Secretary Landau reiterated that Haiti's security crisis poses a threat to our regional and national security. Both officials emphasized the importance of restoring constitutional order and reinforcing the capacity of Haiti's democratic institutions. The Deputy expressed the United States' support for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, but emphasized the need for greater burden-sharing.

Deputy Secretary Landau also affirmed the United States' commitment to accountability for those who undermine Haiti's stability. The United States will continue to leverage all tools, including sanctions, visa restrictions, and other measures against individuals who enable violence and instability.
