The Yemeni Armed Forces say they have launched a joint military operation with 11 missiles and drones targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and several other cities.

"Our air defense succeeded in confronting the Zionist aggression against our country and thwarting its plan to target a number of Yemeni cities," Yemeni army spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Monday.

He added that the armed forces conducted the operation after forcing a number of combat formations participating in the aggression to leave the airspace in order to prevent them from launching raids.

"The counter-attack was carried out with a number of locally manufactured surface-to-air missiles," he emphasized.

He explained that the missile and UAV forces carried out the joint military operation in retaliation for the Israeli regime's aggression against their country and in continuation of support for the oppressed Palestinian people.

Saree said the forces targeted Lod Airport with a "Palestine 2" hypersonic ballistic missile, the Ashdod Port and the power station in the occupied Ashkelon area with a hypersonic ballistic missile and the Eliat Port with eight drones.

"The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that the missiles and drones have successfully reached their targets, and that the interceptor systems failed to intercept them," he added.

The criminal enemy will realize that any aggression against Yemen will "cost it dearly and will only push the Yemenis toward greater steadfastness and perseverance" he noted.

The enemy's strikes would also encourage the Yemenis to conduct more operations in support of the oppressed Palestinian people, he noted.

He emphasized that Yemen's loyal people, faithful leadership, and struggling army, are fully prepared to thwart all enemy military plans.

The spokesman reiterated Yemen's full preparedness for a sustained and prolonged confrontation with hostile warplanes and seeks to break the naval blockade imposed by the armed forces on the enemy.

He emphasized that the Yemeni armed forces will continue to fulfill their religious, moral, and humanitarian duty to support the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza until the end of the Israeli regime's aggression against them and the lifting of blockade in the Strip.

Israeli aviation authorities on Sunday suspended all arrival and departure flights at Ben Gurion International Airport and stated the facility will remain closed "until further notice."

The pan-Arab media outlets reported that the Israeli-occupied territories were effectively cut off from international air travel, as air raid sirens sounded across multiple locations in the Dead Sea area following the launch of the ballistic missile.

As the genocidal war on Gaza intensified, the Yemenis implemented a strategic blockade on vital maritime routes, aiming to hinder the transportation of military supplies to Israel and to prompt the international community to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced that they will continue their attacks until Israel halts its ground and aerial offensives in Gaza, where over 57,400 Palestinians have lost their lives since the war began on October 7, 2023.
