The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says it is open to a ceasefire agreement—but only one that guarantees a full end to Israel's devastating war and the withdrawal of its occupying forces from Gaza.

The group said in a statement on Wednesday that it is reviewing new ceasefire proposals received from Egyptian and Qatari mediators.

Hamas said it was in contact with mediators to "bridge gaps" and resume negotiations.

Hamas official Taher al-Nunu said the group is "ready and serious" about reaching an agreement.

He said that Hamas is "willing to accept any initiative that clearly leads to the complete end of the war."

The group has also said that any agreement must include the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. In exchange, it said, it is prepared to release the remaining 50 Israeli captives, fewer than half of whom are believed to still be alive.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump claimed that Israel had agreed to the terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire and urged Hamas to accept the deal before the situation worsens.

He claimed the pause would be used to work toward a permanent end to the war, which has so far killed more than 57,000 people in Gaza, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
