When asked to comment on the news that Thailand's Constitutional Court announced on Tuesday that it had accepted a petition to investigate whether Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra violated the constitution and decided to suspend her from duty, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday, "This is Thailand's internal affair, and I will not comment on it. However, as a friendly neighbor, we hope that Thailand will maintain stability and development."

Thailand's Constitutional Court on Tuesday accepted a petition against Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra over suspected breach of the constitution and ruled to suspend her from duty pending the court's decision, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Thailand's deputy prime minister and transport minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit will take over the role as acting prime minister after the Constitutional Court suspended Paetongtarn's duty, Xinhua reported.
