The head of Polish diplomacy took part in the NATO Summit in The Hague (24-25 June 2025). Radosław Sikorski accompanied Poland's President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance's heads of state and government.
The talks focused on strengthening NATO's collective defence in the face of Russia's threat and growing challenges to Allied security. NATO states took on a new commitment to increase their defence spending to 5% GDP over the next five years. The Allies pledged to spend at least 3.5% GDP on defence and 1.5% GDP on defence-related areas, such as infrastructure, logistics, or industry.
A new capability targets package was also adopted at the summit, orienting the development of NATO states' armed forces in the long term. The orientation will contribute significantly to the implementation of the Alliance's defence plans and collective defence capabilities.
Minister Sikorski also took part in a NATO-Ukraine Council meeting with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. Meeting participants discussed the situation on the front as well as NATO and Allied support for Ukraine as it fights against the Russian aggressor. Minister Sikorski called for a full utilisation of the opportunities offered by the Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre in Bydgoszcz. He also called for maintaining appropriate measures to defend components of logistical support for Ukraine that are located in Poland.
In the margins of The Hague summit, Poland's chief diplomat took part in the NATO Public Forum. In a discussion on defence spending, he stressed the need for collective investment in security in the face of the Russia threat. He outlined Poland's experience in this area and expressed hope that all Allies will deliver on their commitments necessary to maintain NATO's effective deterrence and defence posture.
Minister Radosław Sikorski also met with a delegation of US senators and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. They discussed key issues related to bilateral cooperation and security.
