Bern, 18.06.2025 -- The "Scout 25" technical symposium was held at the Military Training Area in Thun on 18 June 2025. Here, the Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse came together with the Swiss Armed Forces to present modern technologies for battlefield reconnaissance and countermeasures. The event also gave those in attendance the chance to experience the technological possibilities being developed by industry and academia within the framework of the Vision 2030+ programme of the Swiss Armed Forces in a wide range of presentations.

At the "Scout 25" technical symposium, armasuisse Science and Technology (S+T) and the Land Forces of the Swiss Armed Forces will offer insights into modern battlefield reconnaissance and countermeasures. The programme includes keynote presentations from armasuisse, the Swiss Armed Forces and the European Defence Agency (EDA) as well as short presentations by figures from industry. There will also be an exhibition held at the Military Training Area in Thun with more than 60 stands and 18 live technology demonstrations from industry and academia.

Adaptation to a dynamic environment

Technologies are changing at an ever-increasing pace and are largely driven by the civilian market. Technology cycles are getting shorter and shorter, which is proving challenging in the military environment in particular. A quick adaptation to the latest technologies is however vital for the Armed Forces' ability to defend itself on the battlefield. This is where the "Scout 25 - modern battlefield reconnaissance and countermeasures" technical symposium comes in, providing a platform to engage in transparent discussions with partners. In such a collaboration, innovative technological solutions can be identified for the Swiss Armed Forces at an early stage, such as in the detection of and defence against drones, in reconnaissance sensors on vehicles and drones, as well as in camouflage and deception.

About Scout 25

The "Scout 25" technical symposium will be held in this manner for the first time and is aimed at selected guests of the Swiss Armed Forces, Federal Administration and cantonal security authorities, as well as specially invited guests from the DACH region and exhibitors from academia and industry.

"Scout 25" is being organised within the framework of the DDPS innovation spaces - instruments that are used to find solutions for existing challenges in the DDPS. They are used to identify technology trends and new solution processes as well as for reviewing whether these meet the requirements in place. Thanks to the close cooperation with partners from the Swiss Armed Forces, industry and academia, armasuisse S+T employees possess cutting-edge technological expertise and specialist knowledge at all times, thus allowing them to assess the developments in technology to provide the Swiss Armed Forces with the capacity to defend itself and to deploy such technologies exactly where they are needed.
