Iran's foreign minister has urged unity among the Lebanese people to address the country's problems, calling for national dialogue among all sects and political groups to build consensus and resolve the country's issues.

Abbas Araghchi made the remarks in a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut, his second diplomatic destination after a visit to Egypt.

The minister emphasized Iran's readiness to expand relations with Lebanon in areas of mutual interest, based on reciprocal respect and shared benefits.

The minister also announced that Iranian companies stand ready to assist the Lebanese government in reconstruction efforts.

President Aoun, in turn, pointed to his government's approach to developing relations with all countries and affirmed Lebanon's readiness to deepen friendly ties with Iran across various fields.

He stressed that ending the occupation of parts of Lebanon and rebuilding damage caused by Israeli aggression were top priorities for Lebanon's new government.

Araghchi also held a meeting with Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in which they exchanged views on developing bilateral relations between Iran and Lebanon, as well as on regional developments.

Araghchi described his visit as part of the Iranian government's policy to strengthen ties with neighboring and regional countries, including Lebanon.

Referring to the long-standing, friendly relations between the two nations, the minister stressed Iran's determination to expand these ties, especially in economic and trade spheres, by activating the Iran-Lebanon Joint Cooperation Commission.

The Lebanese PM emphasized his cabinet's readiness to develop relations with Iran based on mutual respect and common interests.

'Iran ready for new phase of cooperation'

In a separate meeting with Nabih Berri, the speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Araghchi commended his pivotal role and initiatives in fostering political understanding among Lebanese factions during the presidential election and government-formation stages.

Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's resolve to embark on a new phase of friendly relations with the Lebanese government and to deepen bilateral ties across political and economic domains.

Berri, for his part, lamented Israel's blatant violations of the ceasefire deal despite Lebanon's full compliance over the past eight months.

He declared the liberation of occupied Lebanese territories and subsequent reconstruction as the country's two foremost priorities.

Araghchi also held talks with Youssef Raji, his Lebanese counterpart, in which they exchanged views on bilateral relations and significant regional developments.

Araghchi, recalling the long and positive history of Iran-Lebanon relations, stressed Iran's readiness to expand cooperation across political, economic, and commercial fields.

He reiterated Iran's continued support for Lebanon's independence, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and lauded the Lebanese government and people for their efforts to confront Israeli aggression, end occupation, and liberate the country's southern districts.

Raji, noting the high esteem in which the Lebanese people hold Iran and its millennia-old culture and civilization, affirmed his government's readiness to broaden bilateral ties with Iran in all spheres.
