The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has strongly condemned the latest provocative incursion by hundreds of Israeli settlers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

In a statement released on Monday, Hamas stated that the settlers stormed the courtyards of the holy Muslim site and committed "provocative acts" under protection from Israeli soldiers.

Hamas said the latest incursion was "a part of ongoing desperate attempts by the occupying regime to obliterate its Islamic and Arab identity" of the holy site.

"These escalating and repeated incursions are part of a systematic Judaization plan led by the fascist occupying regime," the statement read.

Hamas called on the Palestinian residents across the occupied territories to unite against such "fascist schemes targeting their land and holy sites."

Hundreds of Israeli settlers raided the al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of al-Quds on Monday morning in the latest provocation amid ongoing settler incursions into the holy site.

The Islamic Endowment Department that more than 500 settlers entered the holy site in groups under the protection of Israeli forces.

Groups of Israeli settlers stormed al-Aqsa from the Moroccan Gate, located in the Western Wall of Haram al-Sharif, under the protection and escort of heavily armed Israeli police forces.

According to Palestinian news agency Wafa, dozens of settlers were also reported to have performed Talmudic rituals and provocative dances at multiple gates leading to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The Islamic Waqf further warned that al-Aqsa Mosque is witnessing an alarming surge in violations by Israeli settlers and police forces.

These include an increase in settler incursions, the entry of larger settler groups, and the growing frequency of Talmudic prayers being performed within the mosque compound - all under the protection of Israeli forces.

Under an agreement signed between Israel and the Jordanian government in the wake of the regime's occupation of al-Quds in 1967, non-Muslim worship at the holy compound is prohibited. But the ban is a mere phrase and, in action, circumstances have been against Muslims.

The provocative settler intrusion into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound takes place at a time when Israel keeps its bloody war machine running in the Gaza Strip.

Since 2003, Israel has allowed illegal settlers into the flashpoint compound almost on a daily basis

Elsewhere in the statement, Hamas urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League to take immediate and serious action to halt the Israeli campaign of genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.
