President Gitanas Nausėda met with Romanian President Nicușor Dan on Monday on the sidelines of the Vilnius Summit.
The Lithuanian leader once again congratulated the President of Romania on his election victory and expressed hope that the two countries would continue to deepen their bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense and security.
"I would like to thank Romania for its substantial contribution to regional security, especially through its participation in NATO's forward presence in Poland and the Baltic air policing mission. Romanian troops currently stationed in Zokniai contribute to the security of Lithuania and the entire Baltic region," the Lithuanian leader pointed out.
Gitanas Nausėda reaffirmed Lithuania's strong support for Romania's aspiration to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and acknowledged the significant progress Romania has made in this regard.
The President also welcomed the strengthening of economic and trade ties between the two nations, as well as joint investment projects. The meeting also covered hybrid threats and challenges, the need to reinforce sanctions against Russia, and the importance of advancing EU enlargement.
