Spanish Government strongly condemns approval of 22 new settlements in West Bank by Israeli Government

Settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law, undermine the viability of the two-State solution and are a threat to peace.
The Government also expresses its deepest dismay at the intensification of the military offensive in the West Bank - including operations in Jenin, Tulkarem and Nurshams refugee camps - demolitions, increasing settler violence and the forced displacement of thousands of Palestinians, which constitute violations of international humanitarian law.
Peace in the region requires the realisation of a sovereign Palestinian State, comprising Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
