MANILA -- Philippine Army (PA) commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido called on the Army Signal Regiment (ASR) to continue enhancing its capabilities to defend the country's cyberspace from all threats.

Galido made the call during the ASR's 14th-anniversary celebration on Wednesday, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said in a news release.

"Communication. Connectivity. Cybersecurity. These are the cornerstones of the ASR's unwavering commitment to the PA. Today, we recognize, not just the passage of 14 years, but the remarkable progress and invaluable contributions of the ASR to the operational effectiveness of our entire force," Galido said.

With this era of rapid technological advancement and evolving cyber threats, the PA commander said the ASR has a major role in protecting and safeguarding the country's cyber domain.

Galido earlier prioritized the deployment of secure, jamming, resilient, and redundant communications and cybersecurity systems as part of efforts to beef up the PA's communication security.

"You (ASR) are at the forefront of our digital defense, safeguarding our networks, protecting critical information, and ensuring the integrity of our cyber domain," he said.

He also lauded the ASR for its exceptional delivery of reliable signal services that are the critical backbone of military operations.

Galido said these communications capabilities provide commanders with essential command and control functions while ensuring comprehensive situational awareness across the battlefield. (PNA)
